So we decided to give you live update so far of the on going 2015 MAMAs which is basically The biggest music ceremony of the year is here – the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).
We shall no doubt be bringing you all the updates of the winners, the reactions and the performances, but for now here is the event so far, read below:

American actor and comedian Anthony Anderson opens the ceremony. Did he just speak Zulu?

The event begins with a moving bit of Durban culture. DJ Fisherman and Naakmusiq are the first performers at the MAMAs, they perform their hit single ‘Call out’ featuring DreamTeam, Danger and DJ SK.

The crowd goes wild! All eyes on Burna Boy! The ‘Like to party’ crooner starts off ‘All eyes on me’ from the bleachers and moves to takes the stage with AKA and Da Les!

Stonebwoy takes the stage to join the performance. Oh snap! His microphone volume is super low.

Anderson takes a swipe at Rick Ross. He says 10 years of MTV in Africa is like a prison sentence for the rap star.

Vanessa Mdee and Lynxxx present the first award of the night. The award for Best Live Performance goes to Diamond Platnumz. The Tanzanian star beat Nigeria’s 2niteFlavour, BigNuz, MiCasa, Toofan gives them props for their live performances.

2Face Idibia is joined by South African singer Bucie to perform his loved song ‘African queen’. Who knew Bucie could speak Yoruba.
